Partners/Links

  • To learn more about launching your own First Step Project, or to share your experiences with other like-minded people, join the First Step Project on Facebook.
  • The first nonprofit that the First Step Project has partnered with is Interact of Wake County. Interact is a nonprofit organization that provides shelter and support for victims of domestic violence, rape and assault. They have an excellent reputation in their community, and got a thumbs up from the Institute for Nonprofits. Further information is available at: http://www.interactofwake.org/
  • In addition, the First Step Project received lots of information (and moral support) from the Institute for Nonprofits at North Carolina State University. They focus on research, education and outreach related to the nonprofit community (locally, nationally and internationally). They are a wonderful resource for anyone with questions about the nonprofit world. Further information is available at http://nonprofit.chass.ncsu.edu/.

    Hi Matt~
Allow me to introduce myself, my name is Susan and I work at Plexus Engineering Solutions here in Raleigh. Our office is located off of Jones Franklin Rd, and we occupy the entire 6th floor in the University of Phoenix building. Plexus has been in the Raleigh area for the past 14 years. As a matter of fact, prior to Plexus moving to Jones Franklin, we were located on Centential Campus. We have been at our present address for the past 4 ½ years. Plexus is a design engineering firm. We are a global company with 6 Design Centers [Raleigh, Boulder, Neenah – WI, Livingston, Germany, & Penang] and 18 manufacturing sites [4 in Appleton & Neenah area, Boise – ID, Chicago, San Jose – CA, Juarez – Mexico, Kelso & Tweedbank – Scotland, Oradea – Romania, 4 in Penang – Malaysia, 3 in China]. In the Raleigh office, we have 75 of the most amazing, unselfish, talented, dedicated, smartest people that you will ever meet. We are more like family then colleagues.
Plexus has been involved giving back to the community in several areas during my 5 years employment with Plexus. We have contributed to the following:
    • Capital City Clauses Toy Drive
    • Jingle Balls, [Plexus made a donation to help kick off this year’s Jingle Balls]
    • Habitat for Humanity
    • Adopt a Stream
    • Toys for Tots
    • Back to School Drive – supplies and after school foods
    • Hurricane Food/Clothes Drive
    • Misty Creek Stables Tornado clean up.
So with all this being said, I read your article in this past Sunday’s paper and we, Plexus, would like to offer our help to you and your charity InterAct.
You may contact me at the number below, and we will be patiently waiting for your response.

    Best Regards,
    Susan Burkhart
